7. Metadata and text retrieval

Scenarios:

• Electronic editions of text in TEI
• Dissertations on those texts, possibly published in specialized ETD formats (cf., Electronic theses and dissertations in the humanities).
• Papers written on related issues using DTDs proscribed by publishers (cf,, BioMed Central - XML/XSL Technology page)
• Eventually, documents written in, for example, DocBook will become sources to researchers in the humanties (like historians of science and technology).

Do we need a more record like text encoding, used for the automatic indexing, searching and retrieval of heterogeneous collections of documents?
